Match Report: 8.15am on a chilly Sunday morning, Knapsack 2, far end. Five middle aged men, with a total of around 200 years of football experience all looking at a net trying to work out which is the right way up to hang it on the goal. JB, Sem & I looking at our feet whilst Zap & PK had differing opinions. Once up, I still don’t think they got it right as PK said ‘I think it’s inside out’. Huh?

So here we go again – the first crack at the champs for the season. An excellent full blooded Wednesday training session leading in ensured the team was up for this one

We dodged a bullet early with Kev making a brilliant one on one save in the six yard box. Not too much later a ball put through for Sem to chase down into the box and Sem’s pace got him there first to fire home. First time we’ve been ahead against this team and with our tails up Thor hit a corner to the near post that Badger, née JB, rose salmon like to glance across the keeper and into the net. 2-0. Dangerous lead and all that

Second half and Springwood eventually pulled one back but we got another too after Dave surged forward and played a great pass to Sem, who shifted the ball quickly and struck it into the bottom corner. Twenty minutes to go

Springwood pulled another back with ten left and sadly, for us, levelled in the last five

Disappointing in the end to come away with just a point but sets up the rest of the season well as we play each other twice more

No votes taken but PK man of the match for an excellent defensive effort and the net doing its job despite being inside out
