BMFC O35.1: 4
vs
Werrington FC: 3
BMFC Goal Scorers: Sem, JB, The Gaffer
Player of the Match: The Gaffer
Match Report: With depleted numbers, we entertained Werrington
I missed the opening half hour, getting my socially distanced photo done with the 17’s but score updates were coming in from those around me – 1-0 Werrington, 1 all, 2-1 Werrington
I was told Mark Sem raced through, scored but instead of his usual Alan Shearer-Esque outstretched arm above the head celebration, his hand went the other way, to the back of his leg – hammy gooone …
1-2 at half time. Paulie is probably the best header of a ball in our team. The Gaffer decided to give Paul some advice – when a cross comes in, head the ball down – it does look good when a header flys in the top corner but this keeper is saving them. Head it down
Two minutes into the second half and Tolly whips in a cross from the right & guess what? Paulie arrives, heads the ball down and into the net. Coaching Master Class from The Gaffer
A few moments later we took the lead when JB steered what I believe was another Tolly cross past the keeper
Werrington equalised when a long range shot was deflected and wrong footed Our Kev
Plenty more chances came and went – a strike from the edge of the box both from Zap coming very close. I found myself chasing balls (I look like The Tin Man when running apparently) regularly, into what is now known as ‘Cobra Corner’
Who then could take their chance and find a winner?
Cometh the hour cometh The Gaffer. A loose ball in the box following Thor’s cross sat up perfectly for Marty to welly it, like Roy of the Rovers, past the keeper and into the net. Rolling back the years
