Match Report: A top of the table clash and a chance for us to close the gap on the competition leaders

It was also Oli’s last game as he returns with his family to England on Monday.

We were under the pump for the first fifteen or so but our solid defence of Aidy, Millsy, Sam and Oli with Keastie as CDM ensured Eli in goal did not have too much to worry him. We evened the contest out as midfield pair Ash and Jake started winning more ball. A cleared ball from a corner fell to Millsy, some 30 metres out and a solid toe poke sailed over the keeper and in. We almost doubled the lead when Alex played in Ethan with a great ball but Ethan’s shot was saved

RSL levelled a few minutes later off a corner and could have got a couple more – one goal disallowed for offside and Eli making a brilliant one on one save

Happy to be level at half time, the boys were confident they could get on top in the second half

It was a different game in the second half as we played largely in RSL’s half. Oli, having been switched to right wing, got at his marker time and again. Ash was doing likewise on the left and the two combined to put us ahead – Ash’s cross met sweetly on the volley by Oli. Ethan hit the bar off an Oli cross and was also denied by the keeper in a one on one. The score remained 2-1 to us

A great way for Oli to end his Blue Mtns career, scoring the winner and getting player of the match. It has been a pleasure to have Oli in the squad the last couple of years and we all wish him well on his return to England
