Match Report

It was a dark and stormy day and with the momentum of three thumping victories in their last three games the AA5s returned to the cauldron that is knapsack park to take on the undefeated competition leaders.

The game started slowly for blueys with st clair dominating possession which resulted in a goal after a some poor marking for a set piece. Keeping their heads held high blueys come back strongly in the match, creating a number of opportunities which left the St Clair defence uncomfortable and frustrated.

Blueys kept tightening the screws against St Clair and when Scrawley released sticky down the line a pin point cross was delivered to grasshopper who elegantly controlled the ball before thumping it into the back of the net – one all.

As the match continued some strong defence at the back gave the St Clair no chances, and if it wasn’t for some excellent goal keeping by the St Clair keeper blueys would have been certain to take the lead.

In a tight tussle throughout the second half, the match looked destined to be headed for a draw.

Unfortunately, with the ball bobbing around the box the ref succumbed to claims of a hand ball and St Clair were given a penalty with minutes to go. For the first time in ten years, Tingles dived right, and the ball was slotted into the left giving St Clair a 2-1 lead with only 2 minutes left on the clock.

A great effort all round boys and I am sure that St Clair will not be looking to facing us in the finals.
