vs Glenmore Park
Opposition Score 0
Match Report Defenders Ben, Tom, Scott and sweeper Steven put their stamp on the game from the start, dominating Blue Mountains’ half of the field leaving goalkeepers Rachel (1st half) and Otis (2nd half) little work to do. Steven’s speed was effective in intercepting Glenmore Park’s attacks and making effective distribution into attacking positions.
Blue Mountains’ first goal came after only 5 minutes. Tim made a fine run up the left wing, beat a defender and his shot was saved by the goalkeeper who could not hold it. Meanwhile Liam had run into the perfect position and found the back of the net with a well placed shot.
The rest of the first half saw many Blue Mountains attacks with Liam, Tim and Will combining well on the left, Mitchell C and James on the right, both working well with Mitchell H and Otis in the centre. Liam had a shot saved, James’ shot went just wide and Mitcehll C had a shot cleared by a defender after beating the goalkeeper. But no more goals.
Blue Mountains achieved rewards early in the second half, scoring 3 times within the first 11 minutes. After only 2 minutes, Liam put the ball through to Will on the left wing who took the ball all the way up the field and scored with an angled shot from the left. 7 minutes later, Steven’s pace enabled him to take the ball up the left wing and then into the centre where his well placed shot gave the ‘keeper no chance. Only 2 minutes later good teamwork on the left resulted in a sharp opportunity for Will on the left at an even finer angle, which he again converted, the ball going into the net off the right post.
The defence continued its disciplined work, providing great service to the midfield and forwards.
Blue Mountains continued to attack with James, Scott and Rachel combining well on the right and Will working well on the left. Scot had 2 shots saved, Rachel 4 and Liam one while Scott and James both saw shots go just wide. But no more goals, leaving the result at 4 goals to nil.
