Match Report |
Beautiful conditions at Knapsack made for a great day of football and the Wolves and Lions put on a great show for all the spectators, with the Wolves finishing on top. With Josh on his Olympic junket in the UK and Luke under the weather, we were extremely fortunate that Con, Riley and Fin from the Panthers were able to lend us a hand after their game. The game was tight the whole way through with some great passages of play by both sides. Hamish carried his great form from the last three weeks into this game and attacked each contest with determination and showed added composure and control, winning the ball and setting up play for the Wolves. Awesome playing Hamish! Kynan and Layla were impenetrable in defense, clearing the ball when needed and working it wide to create space in front of goals up forward. Great stuff Ky and Layla! Lachie played strongly in the midfield and, when winning the ball, showed great determination to use it effectively, controlling it until an option opened up and then played it on well. Great stuff Lachie! Martin made some trademark defensive saves, but really pressed forward brilliantly, finding space and the right position, and was close to scoring twice. Great work Martin! Alex showed great determination from the start, for the second week in a row, really striving to play out our pre-game strategy and achieving it in style. He ran hard through the middle, linking with players as he moved into scoring positions and finished off really well, ending up with three goals and this weeks Player of the Match trophy. Great game Alex! Our goalies this week were Fin and Con and both were awesome making quite a number of great saves and also playing the ball on quickly to players in space. Riley, and Con and Fin when they rotated on, really linked well with our guys, making some great passes and combinations. You guys were great, thanks very much having a run with us and to coach Mark for helping out. The game was a great spectacle and all players should be proud of their efforts. Great game Wolves!
