It was a great day at Knapsack on Saturday for the Under 9’s Gala Day, with the Wolves, Lions, Sharks, Panthers and Tigers all participating in the intra-club event. Special thanks to the club for organising the event which was thoroughly enjoyed by all players and parents! The Wolves capped off the season in style with sensational performances in all the games, showing great spirit and displaying all the skills, determination and teamwork that they have developed over the season. Alex was awesome all day, taking on each game with lots of trademark runs down the sides and combining well with great passes to open players in the middle and one of the goals of the day in the final game. Great work Alex! Hamish scored another goal from the most difficult position on the pitch – the corner spot and put in another great effort all day with his attack not just to contest the play, but to win the ball and control it to make best use of the play. Great effort Hamish! Josh was terrific upon his return from holidays and showed why we missed him for the last four weeks. His passing work was brilliant and showed that he is truly a top class keeper, with super efforts in goals as he has been throughout the season. Great stuff Josh! Kynan was fearless through the middle and in defence, winning he ball and moving it forward for us constantly and continued to inspire the team with his use of voice. Excellent work Kynan! Lachie showed again he has super composure whenever he gets the ball with all his passes finding a teammate. He worked really hard all day and finished strongly with a courageous effort in goals against the prowling Panthers, making two really great saves! Awesome stuff Lachie! Layla was tremendous all day and made the most of a bit more time up forward. She had some great runs towards goal and combined brilliantly with Martin with some great passes resulting in goals. Awesome work Layla! Luke fought tirelessly the whole day and was relentless winning the ball for his team and setting up some good forward moves with his work in the midfield. Great work Luke! Martin spent time forward and showed his tremendous skill to score some great goals. He combined really well receiving the ball when it came through the middle, then pushing into scoring positions. The goal in the last game which was the result of a slick three pass combination in tight was a spectacle to watch. Great work Martin! Thanks to the players who gave their all and put all their good work over the season on display on Saturday. You have all developed magnificently over the year, both individually and as a team and all who have watched you this year have been really impressed. You can all be really proud of your achievements! Big thanks to our very special and super reliable team manager Donna for her great commitment, support and immaculate organisation!! Also thanks to all the parents for all your help, support and commitment throughout the season.
