It was always going to be a tough fifty minutes playing against an unbeaten team sitting on top of the Comp. To make the challenge even harder, most of the squad had played two hours of football the previous day in the Winmalee Cup. Many times during this match it was hard to tell who were the League leaders as we played some outstanding soccer. Gieran Vowels is an outstanding fullback and today proved he is equally reliable in the centre of defence. Aiden Morgan played his best game ever in a B Mtns shirt, supported by tough defender Brandan DeJonge. Brandan is now rock solid with aerial balls, very little gets past him. In the middle of the muddy, heavy going field, Tom Bowden worked tirelessly, while Ben Cross got through a mountain of work. Ben also shifted into the middle from a usual wider position and fitted in perfectly! Whilst we didn’t score in this game, both Kali Ferris-Smith and Cameron Haywood looked sharp when given time to join the attack. Both are very talented young boys who have a great understanding of the game and the play around them. In an extremely hard to pick POTW, Ben Cross took the Trophy home this week. |
