Match Report

A game that was equally balanced until the final five minutes.

The smaller compact Field suited our skillful Players, and we dominated long periods of the game. Talented players like Aidan Monaco and Harry Burns were a handful all game for the St. Clair defence with their well-timed runs and brilliant dribbling skills.

Understandibly, most of the boys were tired after competing in the Winmalee Plate or State Cup the previous day, then having a Training Session with ex Socceroo Alan Ainslie on the Friday evening.

Billy Moar showed great stamina, a very versatile Player, who won POTW. Gus Langworthy is another guy who plays with a smile on his face, and he finished off a great attacking move, striking the ball high into the net.

In the final minutes, the ball had crossed the line for a goalkick, but the Referee had no Linesmen, and the ball ended up in our net. It was a great lesson to learn to keep playing until the Whistle blows.

We had our chances, and Will Cooke was extremely unluckly when his volley went inches wide of the Post.

A close game, and proof that the better Team doesn’t always Win.
