Match Report

Late afternoon game at a relatively warm Knapsack. Just the one sub today with Maeve & Alex Cranbrook out.

Kane went in goal in the first half, only conceding one as Blaxland broke well. Con, Jake, Aiden and for the first few minutes Finn all played in defence and were excellent – not only in defence but also in receiving short goal kicks from Kane to work the ball up the field. Con made a number of great bursts forward down the right hand side too.

Alex Mills & Eli played together in the centre of midfield and controlled the play well. Alex scored two goals, both well hit shots from distance. Dom got the other of the half, Eli playing a delightful ball behind the defence and Dom chipped it over the advancing keeper.

Ash surged down the left hand side on numerous occasions, whipping in great crosses but also mixing it up with some shots and little passes inside.

There was lots of really good passing and moving today which is a great sign the kids are starting to gel as a team.

Aiden made an excellent one-on-one save in the second half. Aiden’s distribution skills were on display even from GK as his goal kicks and throws found a team mate almost every time.

Jake was given a chance to play in the centre of midfield and got on the score sheet after quick thinking from Damo – a free kick for hand ball on the edge of the box, quick tap from Damo and shot from Jake.

Coach notes for this week – check the team have all done their shoe laces up before the game (Jake and Damo!) and go over what hand ball is again (Damo!).
