Match Report

With a full team for the first time in a few months we met our good friends for a game of football on a beautiful sunny morning. Finn had his turn between the sticks in the first half and did a good job and came out in the second to put in his expected energetic performance on the pitch. Coach shuffled a few players around to provide the opportunity to play in unaccustomed positions. Arwen played as a forward for the first 15 minutes and was rewarded for her efforts with a great goal. Aiden, who was a bit poorly, played at centre back in the first half and was rock solid. James had a blinder, particularly in the first half, overlapping like Glen Johnson (Liverpool right back) down the right and getting plenty of crosses in. Thomas came very close to scoring, his shot saved well but Ash followed up to knock it in. Riley also got on the score sheet with a break away goal that was put away well.

In the second half Thomas went in goal and did great, clearing and saving. Xavier, Arwen, Kieran and Kane all played well in defence, with Kieran and Kane able to get forward and join the attack on numerous occasions. Riley got the only goal of the second half, sliding in to knock in after Maeve’s shot was parried. Geordie had one of his best games this season, competing well for the ball and passing to a team mate when winning the ball.
