Match Report |
It was a dark and stormy morning that the O35.4W’s commenced their finals campaign and all the boys wanted to get on the field and contribute to a win! We were under the pump a little with Penrith FC’s implementation of the “hoik principle”. Balls were getting hoiked down the field and were creating a little havoc but nothing the defence couldnt mop up with some hard work.’ We were starting to make the most of our possession and this resulted in a few corners. Enter Hollywood. The corner was crossed in to the 6 yard box, the keeper hesitated, and Hollywood headed the ball home for a 1-0 lead!!!!! Seemingly a few minutes later, Pirate crossed in a beautiful corner into the 6 yard box and, waiting there, was a happy and hungry BK. BK too headed the ball home for a 2-0 lead!!!!!! Other highlights from the half were Cranky’s effort in goals; the work rate of the defence; the interlinking skills of the middies and the availability of our strikers. Oh, and one quickly played free kick which The Fox expertly stepped over, which was 30cm off being awesome (doh!). In the second half we were able to place more pressure on the opposition, especially when they decided to park the bus. We sent a number of shots towards the goal but weren’t able to make any shots stick. The highlight from the second half had to be the Boss’ throw-in (aka donation of a case of beer to the team!) followed by a close call on the full time whistle!!! It is this kind of dedication that has kept the good results coming in 🙂 Get/keep your bodies in working order and I’ll see you all on Wednesday. |
