It was a dark and stormy morning that the O35 Four Whites fought their way to a win and the grand final!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! … now known as the corner specialists: the one and only goal came off a Pirate curler. The ball came into the 6 yard box high – I was first to see the comet’s trajectory and jumped high. It floated over me and into the skirmish of attackers and defenders. A spill and a crack and the ball was in the net!!!! GB had brought his A-game and delivered on the scoreline. GB and Shottie started in the front line with one aim – to run the defence ragged. They did this and put us in front! Top effort. Dez and BK led the defence with confidence, calling the play, allowing The Boss, Tomb Raider, Slash, Turtle and GB to keep the opposition working hard for any time near our goal. The centre of the field too was working overtime to provide the link between defence and attack. Whilst Crank, Pirate, Dirty, Shottie and I wished we could have provided more balls on the deck to the strikers, a lot of work, good calls and good passes were had. Hurley and Frankie had the striking duties for the majority of the match and had to work very hard to get any time on the ball. And out of the hard work, we saw some real chances. Hurls shook the woodwork and Frankie was awarded a number of free kicks close to goal (for challenges from behind). These two also assisted with defence whenever the opposition defenders decided to have a wander. A great game. An awesome season to date! A great BBQ. Take care Slash and Slider.
