Match Report: It was a dark and stormy day that we learned that the reward of finishing in the top two teams of Division 3, would see us prompted into a finals league where we were ranked last… Interesting idea.
The team turned up for a great game today (against the worst team of two Divisions above us, not that there’s anything wrong with that). Springwood too turned up for a game and they took off to a flying start, scoring in the first 10 minutes.
The game settled somewhat, as the Blueys defence placed more pressure on the Springwood players, and began to provide a better passing game. We had a full bench and the substitutions were well managed by all. We saw players coming off after a big sprint or hard period of play, to catch their breathe.
My mind doesn’t order the goals to well, so I’m going to put a Voldemordt goal about here. A beautifully weighted pass through the line, Voldemordt tapped the ball forward and ran at the goal. Keeping the defender at bay and keeping an eye on the keepers actions, he superbly slotted the equaliser home!!!
After half time, the team continued with the hard work and cycling of the bench. It was GBs time to shine, and he didn’t let anybody stand in the way of his shots on goal. He put two magic goals away, with the trademark fist pump!
What happened next? The high work rate continued, as did the talk around the ball, however Springwood were able to equalise with not much time to go.
It’s never a highlight to lose a lead, but the team had a great match. Hollywood was busy in goals for 90 minutes. The defence, lead by the backline, adjusted to a constantly moving attack and the midfield did well to balance attack and defence. The defence from the attack was also fantastic!
Congratulations team.
It was good to see Hurls back, as it was to see Tash, Fiona and the Taxman. Repair well, for those that copped a knock.
