Match Report: We had been alerted by Gordon during the week that there was no allocated ref for our game and this hadn’t changed come game day

With neither side offering a willing candidate and only a few minutes to go to kick off time, we were really desperate. Then striding across the park, coming straight from watching Eurovision, came former Blueys player Pommy. We needed a ref and Pom doesn’t mind being the centre of attention – the stars had aligned

We noted two things about Springwood before kick off – they had added quality to their ranks by ‘upgrading’ a few players from their 35 ‘division’ two team and had brought a lot of footballs to the game

It took us some time to break through – JB stabbing home followed by Suarez after playing aerial ping pong with Thor. Half time changes saw the back three become a back four with instructions to the fullbacks to get up and at ‘em

The new structure worked well as we added to be scoreline a little more readily. It became apparent during the game why there were so many spare footballs as one of the opposition’s centre half’s hoofed the ball as far clear as possible and into the bush at every opportunity
