Match Report |
Not sure what happened to the weather last week, but bringing it back to normal … it was a dark and stormy Sunday that the AA5’s took to the field. Penrith FC were on the menu and the lads were ready to push themselves for the full 90 minutes. Whilst the AA5’s are a mix (not a truer description has been made of the team), Penrith all seemed to be aged 20 and younger. For this, we had to weather some fast paced attack for the first 30 minutes. Whilst most of the play was in our half we had their measure (defensively). Then came MC Hammer time (AKA Luke’s shoulder). After this encounter it was Luke’s shoulder 1; Penrith’s scoreline 1! Doh! Luke had a dynamic (now that’s a good word) game and this was an unfortunate result. Half time came and there was still a chance to come back. The team started to make a few in-roads into the opposition half. Neil fired off an early long range missile and Justin did his best to test the keeper. Tingles even made an epic diving save to keep us in the running. Unfortunately it was Penrith who rattled the net again. It may have even been Penrith’s only time in our 6 yard box. Besides this goal, the second half was highlighted by several Bluey’s breakaway attacks. Whilst we may not have expected to outrun the opposition, it seemed that this is what happened. A shot on post and a number of opportunities from corners kept things entertaining. It was good to see GB and Luke link up off a corner for an offload and strike. In summary, the defence faired very well this week; the halves made their presence known in the second half (after catching their breath in the first); and the strikers linked up with various plays to keep us in the hunt. Hats off to all. Get well soon Tingles and Slash. |
