The AA5’s re-unite for another year of hard slog and good times. With a good combination of old and new blood each year, the team is always re–adjusting (metaphorically) at this time of year. A welcome return to Crusty/Crussell/Craig. It was great to see him make it through the first game without injury. The front line looks good this year with Crusty, Tingles/Scott, Disco/Glenn (kidding) and JJ/Justin. JJ fired a goal home on the weekend, which started the team’s goal count for 2013 and takes him off the annual nudy run. The rest of the team (yes, namely the halves!) will be keen to provide you with more ball to feet in the coming weeks. As always it was good to see the hard work of the three stooges Crank, Dirty and Slasher. BK sent the pedometer through the roof as usual with his offensive defence. D (D-Niall) was also churning up the yards with defence and a notable shot (as it came off some great passing) in the second half. Slider, Dorito, GB and Denti all played strongly. I’ve noticed a spark in GB this year; a composure on the ball, allowing a few seconds to lay off good passes. Is it the added fitness of the off-season cycling?? In the same vein, I can’t wait to see Tingles in a one–on–one sprint to the goal line. His frame is now made of carbon fibre. A big welcome to Luke who has made his presence felt in both defence and keeper. Possibly a wander up the field for our corners (as your skill in the air may bag a goal or two). Cheers also to our training partners Davey, Nathan and Dez who both keep us honest and leave our ankles in tact. To the weekends game … we went down 3-1. We were never out of the game, but we couldn’t quite get back in it. Our passing game is our strength and when this fails we have to rely on our fitness. So my guess is … we’ll see Crusty work on both to make sure we cover all bases! See you all at training to work on getting 3 points on the weekend. |
