Match Report: Playing a team that has won the division for the last two years and have not lost a game, aside the grand final last year, for a season and a half, the coach told the boys that there were two stages to our game plan. Stage one, solid defensive first half, get to half time without conceding

A few changes of position this week saw Sam move across to right back, Millsy to sweeper and the returning Ash to left back. Jake was added to central midfield after an excellent second half there the week before

A tight first half and we restricted Colo to balls in behind our centre backs that Millsy and Aidy cleaned up or Eli came off his line quickly for to get there first. We competed well and managed to create a few chances ourselves, getting Ethan and Jake in behind their defence

Half time, 0-0 and stage one complete! Confidence was high as we’d done what we had set out to do and as a bonus troubled them too. The second part of the plan was to go on the offensive right from the start of the second half and try to get ahead. Ash was switched to left wing with Oli dropping back in defence

The change got the required results in the first 15 minutes. Sam, playing at right back for the first time and was having a blinder, got himself an assist as he played Ethan in behind to out pace the defence and fire home. Not long after, Ash made one of many raids down the left to whip a cross in that was not cleared and Ethan bundled home for his and the teams second

Both sides hit the bar in the last 10 minutes, Alex C for us hooking the ball over the keepers head

A super team performance, carrying out the coach’s game plan to a tee. James terrorised the left back time and again; central midfielders Jake, Damo and Max all worked their socks off; Keastie played the defensive midfield role brilliantly, breaking attacks up and setting our counters up; Ethan took his chances well

Parent vote Player of the week went to Ash for his solid defence in the first half and dynamic left wing play in the second
