Match Report: A crucial game against fellow cellar dwellers Springwood. An end to end contest was expected

A reward for great attitude and effort at training over the last few weeks Aidan was made Captain for the day

We had the first real chance when Millsy took a free kick from the left and the ball fell to Damo who’s shot went over

Damo also had a goal disallowed for off side following great build up play down the left between Aidan and Alex and later Alex had a one on one shot from wide left that the keeper saved

Late in the half we fell behind to a long range goal after we failed to close the danger down

Alex completed a goal line clearance, telling me at half time that he dreamt last night that he would do exactly that!

Eli kindly agreed to stay in goal for the 2nd half as he was doing an excellent job. Dom came on after having the first half off to give his troublesome achilles a chance to get through a full half

Aidan nodded the ball through for himself and one on one with the keeper dinked it over but the bounce took it away from goal and into the post

With ten to go, Keastie was hit by the ball in the box and unfortunatley as his arm was away from his body a penalty was conceded. Eli made a great save from the spot kick diving to his right but the ball fell kindly for the penalty taker to follow up and knock home

Sam had another solid game at sweeper and enjoyed the opportunity to venture forward for corners. Liam was a threat up front and solid at right back. Oli combined well with those around him up front all game. Jake, similar to Liam, was a danger up front and did a good job at right mid and back

Player of the match was James. Another busy performance down the right and for a while on the the left. Chased hard all day and passing was spot on

A good performance but just didn’t get a little bit of luck when we needed it. We will battle on and hopefully another win is not too far away

The kit man had arrived early to ensure the superstars shirts were put out on the pegs for them
