Match Report

Backing up on the Sunday for a makeup game was not ideal, but the BM team took it in their stride to deliver another ominous message that they are the team to beat. Although our opposition were further down the ladder, we played them on their home turf, and it was obvious from the outset that they intended to make it a very physical encounter. The final score of 8:1 was a testiment to our ‘never give up’ attitude, and superior fitness, however the opposition put on a fierce tackling display that often went unpenalised. Despite the barrage, our team lifted and kept moving the ball beautifully. Alec scored a another amazing tally of 5 goals. Daniel Neale bagged one and was unlucky to have missed out on a second when he hit a screamer from a free kick into the corner of the goal. Unfortunately it was deemed ‘indirect’. Nick Schembri, made some wonderful length of the field runs, turning defence into attack, despite some niggling attention from the opposition winger. Molly, our energizer bunny, was on fire in the midfield, winning a huge chunk of possession for our forwards. She was ably assisted by Sonny and Finbarr in the centre. The backs, rock solid again, despite losing their boots on several occassions. All in all it was a tough weekend, but the results were just reward. Man of the Match was shared across the whole team, a suggestion from the team themselves (priceless).
