Match Report

Playing the 3rd placed team behind us, it was clearly going to be our biggest test yet, and that’s exactly how it turned out. St Marys Band Club had done their homework and took a very defensive mindset into the match to try and blunt our attack, which has produced a swag of goals so far. With 4 backs, they held us out until 2 minutes from half time, when we finally cracked their defence. It looked like the same again for the second half, however our midfield and forwards stepped up the pace to create a lot more opportunities, and once we scored again the flood gates opened to produce a 7:0 scoreline. To be fair to St Marys, it really was a game of 2 halves, with our resolve being tested in the first half. Our second half performance was a great example of patience and composure and once we got on top, the game was over. Everyone did their job superbly again, and although he was only called upon once, Isaac didn’t dissapoint with a terrific save from point blank range. Man of the match Nick Giles scored 2 cracking goals and was very unlucky not to get his hatrick, but deserved the award for his tireless running and support. Alec again went on a goal scoring spree grabbing another hatrick. Too many good performances to mention, well done to everyone, a great team effort.
