Match Report

A sunny Mother’s Day welcomed the team back to Fortress Knapsack. Three weeks without a game and the boys were pumped for a big one.

Early pressure paid off with Ipswich forcing a poor clearance from the keeper. The ball went straight to The Kaiser on the edge of the box who hit it sweetly first time into the empty net.

St Marys played their way into the game and equalised from a corner about 15 minutes in. It was a battle for supremacy in the midfield for long periods of the first half. La Celeste put us back in front running onto a through ball from Nude Nut and dancing round the keeper before slotting home. Just before the break, Egg Head harrassed the life out of the opposition’s right back, forcing another mistake. Latching onto the loose ball he cracked it passed the keeper. Half time 3-1.

Five minutes into the second half and our supporters upped sticks and started walking away from the game – I’d hate to see what they would do if we were getting beaten. It’s OK, they were just heading for the sun.

Stanley sliced the ball terribly to the The Kaiser to knock it into the back of the net for number four.

With the game ours, Chop Chop received sound advice from Noddy and Swervin from the side line about where to put his throw in – instead he chose to ignore that and throw it across the defensive line, ‘deal with that Roberto’.

To finish the match off La Celeste made it five, then six with two clinical finishes more deadly than a Navy Seal at a compound in Islamabad.

My POM was Chrome Dome – he was everywhere, clocking up his usual 78 kilometers per game. It’s the lack of wind resistence you know.

Finally a mention for Houdini – congratulations from all the team to you and the missus for the arrival of little Daniel.
