Match Report

A belated report for 10 April game …

On a damp Sunday morning 8 of our finest turned up to the holiday home game. With three trecker’s off to Nepal and a sick Delly belly, the team numbers were decimated. Irrespective of the numerical setback, the small team set about their task and a number of players were rotated through goal duties until the second half where Alex saw us out to the end. In spite of the end result, a great effort with numerous saves between the sticks. The score didn’t reflect the girl’s determination on the day, as there were holes all over the park, but Glenmore Park couldn’t take advantage until very late in the second half running in 4 goals in quick succession in the last 15 minutes.

At half time it was only 3 nil, one of which was offside, but let go by the official. Never mind, we knew we were up against it anyway and showed a good account of ourselves. Rebecca and Hannah moved from the mids to the backs regularly while Taylor dominated the mid field, seemingly everywhere. Ashley provided much inspiration with her positive "were having a good game girls" and can-do attitude, which lifted our spirits and put everything pretty much into perspective.

It’s not that Glenmore Park backed off but rather they found it tough going at times and difficult to get around or through our players. I thought they played well beyond their maturity against an older and skilled opponent and with exception to the last few minutes when fatigue set in, their determination could not be faltered. Solid performances by Emily and Zoe, who showed on the wing, defence or midfield, they could go 90 minutes if necessary and poor Bri’s introduction into the deep end continued but didn’t affect her enthusiasm. Plenty of red cheeks after the game showing the motors revved high this weekend and covered a lot of ground but no real grumblings after the game.

All things being equal a good & credible performance in trying times.
