Match Report: It was good to touch the green green grass of Knapsack. It was also good to not get lost in a dust storm or be able to slide tackle without losing all the bark off your leg

Having played Penrith FC a number of times over the last few seasons we were fully aware of how they manage to stay in games no matter how well we may be playing. Today was no different

A back four was deployed to start the game but this at times was surplus to requirements and at others not enough as Penrith always seemed to have four or five playing up front – another way of looking at it was when their midfield went forward, they stayed there. We went one up with a smart finish from Brad but toward the end of the half found ourselves pinned back and right on the stroke of half time conceded a penalty – Double Fist adjudged to have brought the centre forward down though a VAR would have clearly shown he won the ball first. Pen dispatched, 1 apiece at half time

As we were always outnumbered at the back in the first half, Coach Marty decided we needed to reduce from four defenders to three in the second half and see if that helped. It did, we won a penalty, Brad missed, Iceman (injured) on the sideline wagged his finger but we got the lead again thanks to Tolly’s free kick finding Lowndsey’s head to flick on for Zap to beat the keeper

Penrith equalised and we then got ahead after a number of fluffed chances – Lowndsey cheekily chipping the oncoming keeper. Penrith played the last ten minutes with a 4-1-5 formation which made defending for the three rather frenetic but we held on
