Match Report: v St Marys

A bright and early start at sunny St Marys – much better than mid week under poor lighting

The Gaffer had mis-calculated the number of players available, with 17 in attendance and ready to play. Everyone skipped around brightly in the warm up not wanting to give any indication they were carrying an injury. Unfortunately Ibra had already made the boss aware of a calf strain and thus was given the tap on the shoulder to give this one a miss

Following last season’s less than enjoyable mid week mugging in the corresponding fixture we were very happy to see an experienced referee for this game

We started brightly, creating chances at will. The goals came too. Archie opened the scoring, scything through the defence. Brad doubled the lead with a pile driver from fully 25 yards that flew in the top corner. After that I forget the order but goals came a plenty and it was 5-1 by half time

In the second half the great play continued and goals came as the half wore on

Our best performance of the season so far. New recruit Archie had a blinder, scoring two and being involved in much of the creativity up front

One of the St Marys players was annoying everyone with his constant niggle and unnecessary verbal diarrhoea. Those annoyed included the St Marys coach who removed the player a number of times to have a chat and see if he could just go out and play football. How could someone be so irritating on the football pitch?

You would think that the most remarkable fact in the wrap up was that injury prone Pom lasted more than the 11 minutes on the pitch that many had predicted. No. Amazingly, at St Mary’s, we found a footballer in the Nepean comp more annoying as a player than our very own Bearded Lady. Who would have thought that was possible eh Pom? 🙂
