Match Report AA.7 – 19-07-2009

BMSC 2
vs St Clair
Opposition Score 1

Match Report BMSC AA7’s travelled into the heart of St Clair to take on the St Clair (lack of) Strikers. A number of players were missing in action, but reinforcements in the form of Interloper, Brettalica Junior and The Matador were ready to do their bit. Using the inspirational words constantly repeated by Grasshoper, the game started well for the blueys creating a number of early chances. However the finisher was unable to actually finish leaving the scores locked nil all at half time. With about 15 minutes to go, St Clair made a break on the counter attack. Divot bravely gave chase but to no avail, as Brettalica Junior, unwisely using Tingles as inspiration, was chipped off his line. Devastation for blueys with St Clair taking a 1-nil lead. Blueys regrouped, and to the crowds delight, Disco G made a dazzling run down the left touch line beating all defence with dramatic double entendre’s, finally crossing the ball to Marshmallow who showed great composure to send the ball flying into the back of the net. From the restart, the St Clair Striker was tackled and Marshmallow made another run and under an immense amount of pressure from the St Clair defence, again found the back of the net to score twice within 2 minutes and send the blueys into the lead for the first time in the match. Marshmallow had a chance to complete his hatrick on the last play of the day however Cranky cut in early to get to the ball first only to gently nod the ball over the bar. Final result was 2-1 to the Blueys. Great effort all round and a gutsy performance to hold on for the win. Special mention to the fullbacks, Slasher, Johnny Red, Divot and Disco G for their continued excellent defensive work. Post game highlights included the booze hags leaving enough beer for the team to enjoy, and the doctor confirming that he had again won hosting rights for the greatest ever end of season soccer party volume 2 (to be now referred to as G2).
