Match Report

This Blue Mtns side is a very talented group of boys who went down to an early goal, but showed great character to fight back. The standard of football is simply breathtaking from U9’s, all displaying great skill and talent.

Rostered Goalkeepers Zac Kingsford and James Harvie were both called on to make good saves and their kicks back up the field covered huge ground. A good Second half from Zac as an outfield player helped him share the POTW with pacy and naturally gifted forward Ethan Ridley.

Oliver Magri has trained hard at his heading skills on Wed nights, and his vital clearance in the first half was sensational! His overall defence was perfect, his contribution to this team is immense.

Gus Callinan led the way with several huge tackles in this game, winning the ball and passing it intelligently. Jacob Rynne also had his best game of the season, getting involved in everything.

Our five goals had to be seen to be believed, a huge variety but all of them amazing! Star defender Ben Haywood proved that defenders can score goals and netted a hatrick. Regular scorer Tom Wrightson added the other two.

Another brilliant morning of football and the ninth game undefeated, a remarkable achievement at any age or level!

Half time and the boys had abit of fun to see who could win a ball that was signed by eight Socceroo’s after the recent Serbia match. Big names like Brett Emerton and Lucas Neil had kindly signed. The boys had to run from a goal line with a ball, towards the opposite empty net, and it was first to score who collected the Prize. Jack Higgins showed wonderful speed and control, and placed the ball perfectly beating Gus Callinan by a whisker.
