Match Report U10.2 White (24-08-2013)

BMFC
vs
BMFC Gala Day

Match Report A tremendous finish to the season on Saturday at Knapsack with our BMFC Under 10s Gala Day.

To our players credit, they have remained focussed on improving their game right to the very end and after a great final training session on Thursday, brought their best team form to the Gala Day on Saturday.

We played consistently over the 3 games, led with strong defence by Isy and Layla who have been our rocks all year.

Both our brilliant girls stopped countless forward plays by either forcing the attackers wide or tackling and winning the ball outright.

There were great plays with both Isy and Layla turning their opposition inside out, dribbling away and finding teammates up-field with great passes. Great work on the day and all season girls!

Aidan and Alex formed the engine room in the middle along with Hamish to start, with the Lachlans (Farnsworth and Toole) and Martin our starting forwards.

Our number 1 keeper Josh started in the nets.

When we started working our rotations with Corin, Kynan, Will (who we eased into the game after coming back from a fractured collarbone), Luke and Riley, the transition was seamless.

Our ball movement through the midfield and into attack was inspired. All players were looking for space and sensing the right positions to run to.

There was a total focus by all players to control and pass and not only were we passing the ball more, the quality of the passes and concentration to minimise turning the ball over was really high.

Aidan’s penetrating runs through the middle were on display, Alex’s zip down both the left and right side, the crosses into the middle by both those two and also Lachlan T, Will and Corin were consistently timed to perfection and executed with good force and skill.

Efforts in goals also by Luke, Martin, Riley and Hamish were outstanding.

Lachlan F started to make his presence felt in the midfield and Kynan intercepted a few forward runs, firing some terrific volleys back towards our forwards.

Our style of play meant we were able to create scoring chances with much more ease and rather than relying on luck, our goals were really well worked, team goals!

One of the highlights was Riley able to capitalise on one of those team efforts and was rewarded with his first goal of the season, from a great cross by Alex –  great stuff, guys.

Absolute pleasure to watch and coach and it was the best way to finish off the season.

The players totally earned their results on Saturday and for this they deserve to feel really proud of their effort.

Thanks team for a wonderful finish to the season, showing great determination to keep working and improving right to the end, and showing us all (coach and parents) just what you are capable of as a team.

Keep working and practising and best of luck everyone for next season!
