Match Report: With almost half the team away, 10 of us travelled up the hill to a blustery Lawson Oval.

Our opponents only had 6 available players but were able to borrow 5 from the other 35’s team playing prior to get 11 on the park. An interesting loophole in this years 35’s competition as the Hazo team playing prior were actually the div 2 team from last year (we were playing the div 3 team from last year in our game). Everyone was happy as we got to play a game.

Despite only having 10 we played with intensity from the off and were three up mid way through the first half thanks to a quick corner between Cobra & Greenie feeding JB on the edge of the box to slot home; a JB cross that was powerfully headed home, by a Hazo player and a super finish with his left peg from Lowndsey.

At half time Marty was so happy with the way we were playing he said there would be no changes to the current line up – Management genius.

Playing with the wind in the second half it was important to get our shots on target otherwise we’d have to wait 5 minutes for the ball to be retrieved (the spare ball was being used as a foot rest by one of the spectators who was loathed to give it up).

A glut of goals came mid way through the half as Hazo tired – Suarez bagging a hat trick – a bullet header and stealing one off Sean the Sheep included. Lowndsey & JB doubled their bounty for the day. Iceman rolled a penalty in as only he can & the Hazo keeper scored a bizarre own goal – attempting to clear a back pass under pressure from JB he hoiked the ball skywards, the wind caught it & it bounced backwards into the net.

Lowndsey was denied a hat trick – he claimed it was the hand of God that aided him scoring it. Gouda was the just reward.
