Match Report

It was a dark and stormy morning that we entered the Knapsack Caldron. Tingles took the helm, as Crusty and GB had a sleep-in, and a plan he doth hatched!

The plan was a goody … to smother the attacking prowess of one said pre-pizza-Maradona. We didn’t, however, count on the other opposition players stepping up to knock a few into the net. The highlight of the first half was a scoreless pre-pizza-Maradona and some fanciful goal keeping from our own Lev Yashin (the Black Spider).

The second half came around and some opposition changes allowed greater attack from the Bluey’s. A corner was played in and after some aerial ping pong, Balls latched onto the ball and booted it home. Unfortunately, for him, the score card reads own-goal as the keeper got his fingertips on the ball. Hence, this leaves Balls on the nudy-run list.

Following on from this, a Golden Globe effort from Balls saw a penalty given to the Blueys! With Crank on the sideline and Tingles muffled … Turtle gave his best chance at taking himself off the nudy-run list. Alas, he’ll have to continue with the pushups to impress at G6.

Going for "best supporting role" at the other end of the field, Slider, lent into a player with the subtlety of a sledge-hammer … resulting in a penalty the other way. No utility belt was going to help Luke on this day.

Despite some very good opportunities from the attacking forwards, we were unable to put another one away. BK surprised today … being one of the most attacking players on the field. Nathan made his time on the field count and was unlucky not to be rewarded.

An excellent bbq was enjoyed after the game, masterchef’d by Luke with cameos from a few others. Food supplied by "BACKS UP!" Denty and "I’M ALWAYS IN SPACE" Jason, with beverages supplied and iced by Slash. Thank you!!! It was good to see partners and children come along for it.

G6 looms and due to our hectic Socceroo style schedule I think the "decorate-a-jacket-top" idea can wait for another year. We now move to the "dress up as red-foo" idea.
