Match Report: We had the early start and with Keastie and Liam out were down to the bare 11 – thank you so much to Max and Lachlan from the 11/1’s for helping us out on the day

Having played Springwood in the trials we knew they were very strong in the midfield. Sam and Dom played centre midfeld in the first haf and did an awesome job nullifying this. Finn played out wide on the right to counter the Springwood speedy winger. Eli went in goal for the entire game and his assured performance gave plenty of confidence to the rest of the team

As expected we had to defend for large parts of the game but we ultimately did create the clearer chances as we countered very effectively. We had two goals disallowed for offside – one cured in by Chris after a short corner that was offside and second by Jake after he had been put through one on one with the keeper that was a bit more questionable

It was nil all at half time. Millsy and Finn moved to centre midfield in the second half and continued the great work done by Dom and Sam in the first. At the back there were excellent performances from Sam (one slide tackle that was perfectly timed saved a certain goal), Dom (brilliant cover in instance when Eli was out of position), Damo (playing at left back, not a natural position for Damo but he did brilliantly), Ash (deployed at centre back in the first part of the second half to sweep), Aiden, Alex C and Jake

We went a goal down haf way throught the second half. A tactical change moved Ash to left midfield and Aiden into centre back. This led to two or three great runs down the wing with crosses sent in by Ash in the last 5 minutes and Chris passing one of these into the net for the equaliser

A great team performance against a very good team. In the last two games the boys have put defence first, been incredibly resilient and then clinical once we created our own chances
